After 9 days in hospital, Pope Francis is discharged from the hospital

After being hospitalized for 9 days in a hospital in Rome, Pope Francis was discharged this Friday morning (16). The priest had to go to the hospital for surgery on his intestines.

According to the Vatican Agency, the 86-year-old pontiff underwent the surgical procedure to repair a laparocele, a hernia that forms over a scar – resulting from previous surgery.

With the successful recovery, the pope had no complications and was soon released to return to the Vatican. This Thursday (15), during hospitalization, he visited the Pediatric Oncology and Child Neurosurgery Service at the hospital.

This is not the first time Francis has been admitted this year. In March, the pope was hospitalized for bronchitis.
