CAN U23: Morocco in the final at the expense of Mali and qualifies for the Olympics

By reaching the CAN U23 final, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli’s teammates also won their ticket for the Olympic Games to be held in 2024 in Paris.

The first goal of the match was scored in the 14th minute by Zakaria El Ouahdi, following a magnificent triangle combination. The Moroccan selection then managed their advantage throughout the first period.

In the second half, the Malians came back with better intentions and dominated the first part of the second period. They therefore logically equalized thanks to a goal from Mamady Diambou in the 66th minute.

The score remained unchanged until the final whistle. The first half of extra time was unsuccessful, but Amine El Ouazzani managed to find the back of the Mali goalkeeper’s net in the 108th minute. But 10 minutes later, Issoufou Maiga scored Mali’s second equalizing goal, sending both teams to the fateful penalty shootout. A session that finally smiled on the Cubs of the Atlas.
