The President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, highlighted, last Monday night, in Rabat, the need to boost bilateral cooperation with the Kingdom of Morocco.
Speaking at a meeting with members of the Angolan diplomatic corps in Rabat, on the sidelines of a five-day visit at the invitation of the Moroccan parliament, within the framework of parliamentary cooperation, Carolina Cerqueira said that Morocco has potential and experience that can contribute to the development of Angola.
“Morocco plays a very important role on the African continent, as it is one of the countries with the strongest economy in Africa. One of the richest and most developed countries in Africa and an example to follow on the continent”, asserted Carolina Cerqueira.
In his view, Morocco has a very important “value” in the African context and should be used for the well-being of Angolan communities.
The official appealed, on the occasion, to the diplomatic mission to facilitate the design of entry visas for Angola in order to attract more investors and investments that contribute to the development of Angola.
In the parliamentary domain, according to Carolina Cerqueira, the AN can take advantage of the Moroccan experience to reinforce its intervention in the African pacification process, taking into account the relevant role of Angola in the Great Lakes Region, in Southern Africa, in the CPLP and in other regional organizations.
Carolina Cerqueira reaffirmed the need to reinforce parliamentary diplomacy for the pacification of the continent, with particular emphasis on the East of the Democratic Republic (DRC).
“The Angolan parliament has a very important weight in the regional and international political context, focusing on parliamentary diplomacy to contribute to actions aimed at the well-being of communities and peacemaking”, reinforced Carolina Cerqueira.
In his view, given the role it plays in the regional, African and international context, parliamentary diplomacy plays a preponderant role in the affirmation of Angola in the concept of nations.
