Indian old man died after being hit by a cow ‘from the sky’

The bull was hit by an express train, causing it to rise 30m into the air, and then hit an old man, killing the victim.

According to the Straits Times, the accident “falling from the sky” happened when Shivdayal Sharma (82 years old) was urinating on the train tracks in Alwar city in Rajasthan state, northern India on April 18. .

After being hit by a cow from a height, Sharma, a former railway employee, died on the spot.

Another man who was going to the toilet nearby was lucky not to be hit by the flying animal and narrowly escaped death.

Police were informed of the incident, and then took Shivdayal’s body to a nearby hospital for an autopsy, before handing it over to the victim’s family for cremation.

Cattle deaths from being hit by trains are not new in India. Indian government data shows trains in the country hit more than 13,000 cattle in 2022, up 24% from 2019.

According to a BBC report, thousands of Indians let their cattle graze on the lawns that line the railway tracks. These people also drive cattle across the tracks to move from place to place quickly. However, this action carries the risk of an accident.

To solve this problem, in November 2021, Indian Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that fences or enclosing walls are being built along the tracks in areas prone to cattle intrusion.

In addition, India has taken many other measures to keep the cows away, such as clearing garbage, and vegetation appearing near the tracks.
