The International Initiative for Transparency in the Extractive Industries Field, during its twentieth conference held in Dakar on June 13-14, 2023, honored Mauritania by assigning the Shield of Leadership in Transparency in the field of extractive industries, which is the shield that the organization bestows on the most distinguished countries in the field of transparency.
In her speech on the occasion, Ms. Helen Clark, Head of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, emphasized that Mauritania has continuously implemented innovative approaches to achieve the objectives of the initiative, and has adopted an appropriate legal and technical framework to systematically disclose available information in a timely manner to enable data analysis. It has also pioneered revenue forecasting from the green gas and hydrogen sectors to better understand the economic benefits of these sectors.
