On July 14 in Côte d’Ivoire, the junior Cheetahs play their first match of the UFOA B tournament which starts on Friday July 07. Benin coach Mathias Deguenon, travels with 25 footballers.
Facing the young Sparrowhawks of Togo, the Cheetahs under 20 of Benin deliver their first meeting of the tournament of the Union of West African Football Federations (UFOA), zone B. The entry match of the competition of the two formations is played at the Champroux stadium in Abidjan at 7 p.m., Cotonou time.
In the event of victory on Friday July 14 against Togo, Benin goes to the semi-finals of UFOA B. The competition announced to be played by 7 national teams from July 07 to 21, 2023, has been reduced to 6 countries.
After the defection of Nigeria, Group B is made up of Benin and Togo. In Group A are Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Ghana and Niger.
Deguenon with 25 junior Cheetahs
While waiting to fly to Côte d’Ivoire, the young Cheetahs of Benin are doing training sessions in Cotonou. The U20 men carried out on Wednesday, July 05, conditioning exercises at the beach under the direction of the Beninese technician, Mathias Deguenon.
A total of 25 young Cheetahs were selected to be part of the Ivorian expedition. Forwards Tymoté Houngbadji of French club Montfermeil and Gaël Avocèvou of Dreams FC in Ghana are the two expatriate juniors on the list.
