10-Year-Old iPad Pro: Why I Still Use My First-Generation Model

The unexpected Longevity of a Decade-Old iPad Pro: Why I Still use Mine

It’s a⁤ bit of a paradox in the⁢ tech world: ‍holding ⁣onto something old. We’re constantly bombarded with messages about the newest, fastest, and most innovative devices. Yet, I still regularly use my original 2015 iPad Pro. It sits alongside the latest models, and surprisingly, ⁣it still earns its keep.

Let’s be honest, ‍though – a decade is a long‌ time in technology. the difference‍ in speed between my older and ‌newer iPad Pros is immediately noticeable. Apps load slower, ‌scrolling can be choppy with complex ⁣content, and multitasking demands a level of patience I don’t always possess.

Charging is another area where time has taken its toll. ‍A full charge requires an overnight ⁢commitment, and speedy top-ups during the day feel…futile.

Then there’s the Lightning port.⁢ Everything else in my tech ecosystem has ⁤transitioned to ⁤USB-C,leaving me to maintain a dedicated lightning cable ⁣solely for this device. It’s a small annoyance, but it adds up.

Storage is perhaps the biggest limitation. With only 32GB of‌ total space, and iOS consuming a significant portion, I’m restricted to a curated ‍selection of streaming, reading, and recipe apps.

Why Selling Just Doesn’t Make Sense

A quick look at ‌online marketplaces reveals that similar 32GB models are currently fetching between $100 and $150, if they’re in pristine condition. Mine has a few cosmetic blemishes, but⁣ remains fully functional.

Considering the ⁢potential resale value, keeping the iPad Pro as‌ a dedicated backup, secondary display, and kitchen companion makes far more sense. The peace of mind it provides is worth more than any small amount of money I might ⁤receive from a sale.

Furthermore, there’s a certain satisfaction in maximizing the lifespan of a device. This iPad Pro has accumulated countless hours of use across various⁢ roles, and it continues to perform reliably.

This 2015 iPad Pro has been a valuable lesson in the durability of well-engineered hardware. ‍It’s a testament to the fact that longevity can triumph over relentless upgrade cycles. It may ⁣not win any speed contests, but it doesn’t need to.

Ultimately, the best technology isn’t always the flashiest. It’s the technology that⁢ consistently delivers on its core function: getting yoru work done. You’ll instinctively know when it’s truly time for an upgrade. But until then, don’t underestimate the value of a device that simply‌ keeps going.
