BG Pathum united Prepares for a challenging Thai League 1 Season, FAT Addresses Financial Concerns
Bangkok – As the Thai League 1 season approaches, BG Pathum United is gearing up for what veteran playmaker Chanathip Songkrasin anticipates will be thier most demanding campaign yet. The Rabbits have been diligently preparing, implementing an intensified training regimen and integrating a wave of new talent.
Here’s a breakdown of what you need to know about the upcoming season, including insights from Chanathip and crucial updates from the Football Association of Thailand (FAT):
Intense Preparation at BG Pathum United
Chanathip emphasized the team’s commitment to a rigorous schedule. “This year the team have a more intense training programme. We have two sessions each day, in the morning and in the evening. we hope to have a strong season this year,” he stated.
The focus isn’t just on physical conditioning.with several new faces joining the squad, Chanathip’s role extends beyond individual performance. He’s tasked with fostering team cohesion to maximize their collective potential.
“We did not meet our target last season,” Chanathip admitted. “This year we have many new players at the club, therefore my job is to make everyone gel so that we can do better this year.”
Ambition is high. Pathum aims to compete for all five available trophies, with Chanathip personally driven to secure at least one title – and ideally, every one within reach.
A Highly Competitive League Landscape
Chanathip acknowledges the increasing difficulty of claiming the league title. The introduction of a seven-foreign-player quota per team is expected to elevate the overall level of competition, presenting a significant challenge for domestic players.
He identifies Buriram United as a perennial frontrunner, citing their consistent ability to attract top foreign talent. However, he cautions against underestimating other contenders:
Bangkok United
Port FC
Ratchaburi FC
Muang Thong United
Chonburi FC
Kanchanaburi Power (a team he believes is quietly building a strong roster)
Pathum United will kick off their season with an away match against PT Prachuap on August 16th.
