جدة – The Muslim World League (MWL) has vehemently condemned the recent attacks by Israeli government forces on the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza, and the targeting of a shelter for displaced persons in the Al-Mawasi area.
I’ve found that such actions represent a disturbing escalation in the ongoing conflict, and demand immediate international attention.
Dr. Mohammed Al-issa, Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Muslim Scholars Association, issued a statement denouncing these “horrific crimes.” He emphasized the relentless targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure within the Gaza Strip, carried out without restraint. The MWL has renewed its urgent call for the international community to fulfill its ethical and legal responsibilities. It’s crucial, in my experience, to take swift and decisive action against what the League describes as the Israeli government’s increasingly aggressive behaviour.
Here’s what works best when addressing such crises: a firm stance against violence and a commitment to protecting vulnerable populations. The League stresses the need to confront the perceived arrogance and disregard for the lives and rights of the Palestinian people.
Specifically, the MWL is urging the following:
Immediate cessation of hostilities: A complete stop to all military operations targeting civilian areas.
Unimpeded humanitarian access: Ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of aid to those in need.
Accountability for war crimes: Investigating and prosecuting those responsible for violations of international law.
Protection of medical facilities: Respecting the sanctity of hospitals and healthcare centers.
I believe that a just and lasting peace can only be achieved through respect for international law, human rights, and the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people. The MWL remains committed to working towards this goal, and encourages all stakeholders to join in this effort.
