TCG Fall Forum on Governance Returns to NYC: Leading Theatres Through a Period of Transformation

NEW YORK CITY – October 26, 2024 – Theater Communications Group⁤ (TCG), the leading national association⁣ for the American theatre,​ has ⁤announced ‍the return of its highly ​anticipated Fall Forum on Governance to New⁢ York City, November 7-9, 2025. This year’s forum, themed “Leadership for the Long Arc,” will bring together hundreds of theatre leaders, ⁢board members, and ​trustees to address the critical governance ‍challenges and opportunities facing the ‍field in an era of unprecedented‌ change. Registration​ is​ currently ⁢open exclusively to TCG members.

The American theatre is ⁣at a pivotal moment. Facing financial pressures, navigating evolving‌ societal expectations around equity, diversity,‌ and inclusion, and striving ⁤to⁢ demonstrate impactful community engagement, ‍theatres require strong, adaptable leadership. The ​2025 fall Forum is designed to provide‍ a vital space for connection, strategic thinking, and the development of practical solutions.

“Governance is​ no longer simply about oversight; it’s about actively⁢ stewarding the growth, sustainability,‍ and future vision of our theatres,” explains LaTeshia ⁤Ellerson, ⁤Co-Executive Director of National Engagement at TCG. “The⁤ Fall Forum is⁤ a unique opportunity‌ for trustees and‍ theatre leaders to collaborate, learn from diverse perspectives, and generate bold ideas that will propel the theatre ecology forward. A Return to Roots & a Focus on ‍the Future

After a period of virtual and hybrid events, the 2025 Forum marks a return to the ​conventional in-person format in ​New York⁤ City -‍ a location that hosted‍ the event annually from⁢ 1998 to 2019. This decision reflects‌ strong demand from TCG’s ‌member ‌theatres for a‌ dedicated, immersive experience.

The program‍ is built around equipping theatre leaders with the⁣ tools and knowledge needed ‌to ‌navigate a complex ⁣landscape. Key ⁢highlights include:

Economic Outlook Plenary: A deep dive into the rapidly evolving economic realities impacting theatres nationwide, ⁢offering insights into financial sustainability and innovative revenue models.
Governance Best Practices Breakout sessions: Focused workshops exploring‌ effective governance‌ structures, board development, and ethical⁣ leadership.
