Graham Greene, a celebrated actor renowned for his pioneering spirit adn impactful performances, has passed away at the age of 72. His career spanned decades, leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of Indigenous portrayal in film and television.
Greene’s breakthrough role arrived in 1990 with Kevin Costner’s epic Dances with Wolves. He powerfully portrayed Kicking Bird, earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. The film’s success – it garnered 12 Oscar nominations and ultimately won seven awards, including Best Picture and Best Director - catapulted Greene into the spotlight.

“I stumbled into acting and thought, ’These people keep me in the shade, give me food and water…Wow – this is the life of a dog!'” he shared. this self-deprecating wit and down-to-earth nature endeared him to many.
