Amazon Prime Sharing is Changing: What You Need to Know
anyone outside your household currently benefiting from your Prime membership will need their own subscription moving forward.
The End of Broad Prime Sharing
For years, it’s been common practice to share the perks of online subscriptions. However, companies are increasingly limiting this practice. This shift impacts the ability to freely share your Prime benefits with friends and family who don’t live with you.
Amazon recently updated its blank”>support documentation, officially announcing the end of the Prime Invitee program on October 1st. This means anyone outside your immediate household enjoying your Prime shipping benefits will lose access after that date.
Amazon Family: The New Way to Share
So, how
can you still share Prime? Amazon is steering users toward Amazon Family. This allows you to share benefits with others, but only those residing at the same address. Here’s what Amazon Family offers:
Up to four teens (added before april 7th) can be included.
Four child profiles are also permitted.Remember, Amazon defines a “Family” as individuals sharing the same primary residential address.
Beyond Shipping: What Else is Included?
Amazon Family extends beyond just free shipping. You can also share access to:
Prime Video (with ads).
Prime Reading.
select third-party perks,like Grubhub.
Amazon Music Prime, offering ad-free shuffle listening for two adults.
What Are Your Options?
If you’re currently a Prime invitee, you have a couple of choices. You can either join an Amazon Family with members at your address or blank”>sign up for your own Prime membership.
These changes reflect a broader trend of companies seeking to maximize revenue from their subscription services. While sharing was once a common perk,it’s becoming increasingly restricted.
