Veteran broadcaster John Stapleton dies Following Parkinson’s diagnosis
John Stapleton, a beloved figure in British broadcasting, has sadly passed away following a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. News of his death prompted an outpouring of tributes from colleagues and admirers across media landscape. He was 71.
Charlotte Hawkins, a presenter on Good Morning Britain (GMB), shared news of Stapleton’s passing on X (formerly Twitter). She expressed deep sadness at loss of “Stapes,” as he was affectionately known.
He was a brilliant broadcaster and Hawkins fondly remembered working alongside him on GMB. She noted it was good to see him recently when he openly discussed his Parkinson’s diagnosis.

Stapleton’s career spanned decades, establishing him as a respected journalist and a familiar face on television. Sangita Myska, former LBC Radio host, described him as “epitome of collegiate behavior.”
She highlighted his qualities as a grate journalist, role model, and gentleman. Myska recounted a personal story of Stapleton’s kindness, recalling a supportive message he sent her early in her career.
