Cisco Ushers in a New Era of Collaborative Intelligence with Webex AI Agents
the future of work is rapidly evolving, and Cisco is positioning itself at the forefront with a bold vision: Connected Intelligence. This isn’t just about adding AI to existing tools; it’s about fundamentally reimagining how humans and AI agents collaborate to drive productivity, enhance experiences, and secure the modern workplace. At WebexOne 2025, Cisco unveiled a suite of AI-powered innovations designed to do just that, promising a critically important leap forward in both customer experience (CX) and employee experience (EX).
As someone who’s spent years observing the intersection of collaboration technology and AI, I can say this is a particularly exciting development. We’re moving beyond simple automation to a world where AI proactively assists us, freeing us from tedious tasks and allowing us to focus on what truly matters: strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and building meaningful relationships.
What is Connected Intelligence?
Cisco’s Connected Intelligence approach centers around seamlessly blending human expertise with the power of AI agents. The goal is to create a collaborative ecosystem where every interaction – whether between people, or between people and AI – is secure and productive. This isn’t about replacing humans; it’s about augmenting their capabilities.
“With Connected Intelligence,we’re weaving AI agents into Webex to supercharge teams and power new breakthroughs in how people and AI collaborate to get things done – this is the future of work coming to life,” explains Jeetu Patel,Cisco president and chief product officer.And it’s a future that’s becoming reality, piece by piece.
A Deep Dive into the new Webex AI Agents
Cisco is rolling out a series of AI Assistants designed to tackle specific challenges within the workday. These aren’t just theoretical concepts; they’re practical tools with defined release timelines. Here’s a breakdown of what’s on the horizon:
* Task Agent (Q1 2026): Ever left a meeting and instantly felt overwhelmed by the list of action items? The Task Agent solves this. It proactively generates action items directly from meeting transcripts, eliminating the need for manual note-taking and follow-up. this is a huge win for productivity and accountability.
* Notetaker Agent (Q1 2026): Capturing the nuances of in-person meetings, brainstorms, and impromptu huddles can be challenging.The Notetaker Agent provides real-time transcription and summarization, ensuring no valuable insight is lost. Crucially, this functionality will be available across both the Webex App and Cisco Collaboration Devices running RoomOS 26.
* Polling agent (Q1 2026): Engagement is key to successful meetings. The Polling Agent proactively suggests relevant live polls to spark discussion and gather real-time feedback, making meetings more interactive and impactful.
* AI Receptionist (Q1 2026): The always-on, virtual receptionist, powered by Webex AI Agent, is getting a significant upgrade. It can now automate routine queries, answer customer questions, and handle tasks like call transfers and appointment scheduling, freeing up human agents for more complex interactions.
* Meeting Scheduler (Q4 2025): Scheduling meetings can be a surprisingly time-consuming process.The Meeting Scheduler intelligently identifies the need for follow-up meetings, finds common availability, and proposes scheduling options, streamlining the entire process.
Expanding the Ecosystem: Open Integration and MDEP
Cisco isn’t building a walled garden. They understand the importance of interoperability and are embracing an open ecosystem approach. Planned for general availability in Q4 2025, Cisco AI Assistant will integrate with leading enterprise knowledge applications, including:
* Amazon Q index
* Microsoft 365 Copilot
* Jira
* Salesforce
this integration will allow AI agents to access and leverage facts from across your existing tech stack, providing even more context and value.
Furthermore, Cisco is leveraging its Multi-Device Experience Platform (MDEP) to enhance security on Cisco devices running Microsoft Teams Rooms. This commitment to security is paramount, ensuring that all interactions remain protected.
RoomOS 26: Intelligent devices for the AI-Powered Workplace
The foundation for many of these innovations is RoomOS 26, the latest iteration of Cisco’s intelligent device operating system. Powered by Nvidia, Cisco Collaboration Devices will deliver
