Another Baker Departs “The Great British Bake Off” During Meringue week
The competition heated up in the tent as “The Great British Bake Off” navigated its first-ever meringue-themed week, resulting in the departure of a seventh contestant. Lesley, a 59-year-old hairdresser from Kent, ultimately faced elimination after challenges involving the notoriously tricky confection.
This week’s trials tested the bakers’ skills across three distinct challenges. First, they crafted miniature meringue tarts for the signature bake, followed by delicate soufflés for the technical challenge. they culminated in an ambitious meringue ice cream cake for the showstopper round.
Despite her dedication, Lesley struggled to consistently achieve the desired results with her meringue. She acknowledged her difficulties, stating she “knew it was coming” and felt a sense of relief as the decision was made.

Looking ahead, lesley has exciting plans to share her passion for baking with others. She envisions opening a small baking school to teach fundamental techniques and a “cake shed” to sell her creations. Furthermore,she hopes to compile a cookbook featuring cherished recipes passed down from her grandmother.
