NSE,established in 2017 alongside British universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS),currently runs the prestigious British University Esports championship. The 2024/25 season saw impressive participation,with 17,800 players competing across 117 universities.British Esports’ own Student Champs competition for schools and colleges also demonstrated strong engagement, featuring over 5,200 students.
This acquisition arrives with ample backing. It’s one of the first investments from the new Esports Global Fund LP, supported by the Alshaya family, which aims to deploy $50 million into the esports industry. Importantly, all existing NSE staff will transition to work with British Esports, ensuring continuity and expertise. The British university Esports Championship will continue uninterrupted.
