Preparing for the challenge: Sammons’ Time Trial Focus
Sammons has been diligently training,dedicating herself to mastering the intricacies of the time trial bike and thoroughly studying the Bold Park course. This preparation is facilitated by access to valuable training resources, allowing her to refine her technique and strategy. The 29km race against the clock, scheduled for late Thursday, will be a true test of her dedication.
She enters the competition as a strong contender, having consistently placed well in previous events. Notably,those who previously outperformed her have now progressed to the elite level,further solidifying her position as a favorite. the rider who secured third place last year will be the final competitor to start, adding to the anticipation.
“I love the time trial,” Sammons expressed with enthusiasm. “It’s my favorite event. It’s so much more in my control. If I mess it up, that’s 100% on me.”
however, she also understands that accountability extends both ways; a less-than-ideal result would also be a reflection of her effort and execution. This mindset highlights her commitment to taking ownership of her performance.
Despite her strong focus on the time trial, Sammons isn’t overlooking the 81km elite and U23 women’s road race on Sunday. She approaches this event with a more measured viewpoint, recognizing the inherent unpredictability of road racing.
Sammons benefits from increased experience, including successes in ProVelo stage races and national-level competitions in Spain, where she gained valuable exposure to European racing.Though, she acknowledges that the element of surprise that characterized last year’s race – where an early breakaway remained successful – may not be present this time. Still,she remains open to the possibility of unforeseen circumstances working in her favor.
