Lawyers Protest Assault, Disrupt Toll Plaza Operations in Barabanki
Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh – A protest sparked by the assault of a lawyer from the Allahabad High Court continued to escalate on Friday, leading to demonstrations at the district headquarters and meaningful disruption at the Bara Toll Plaza.
Lawyers converged on the Superintendent of Police (SP) office, demanding swift action against the perpetrators of the attack. The SP addressed the protestors, assuring them a thorough examination and stringent measures would be taken to bring those responsible to justice.
Concurrently, the Bara Toll Plaza became the focal point of the ongoing exhibition. Throughout the day, a substantial police presence maintained order as lawyers, both those initially protesting and newly arriving colleagues, engaged in vocal demonstrations, chanting slogans and reiterating their demands.
Notably, the protest resulted in 36 hours of free passage at the toll plaza, with thousands of vehicles proceeding without paying the required fees. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Haidergarh police station, and the continued disruption highlights the seriousness with which the legal community views the assault on their colleague.The situation remains tense as lawyers await concrete action from authorities.
