Arizona Worker Dies After Being Trapped in Chemical Tank
A 57-year-old father of two, José Fernando Partida, tragically died on January 10th following a workplace accident at Gowan Milling LLC in Yuma, Arizona on January 4th. Partida was cleaning the inside of a chemical mixing tank when he became trapped for over five hours.
The situation worsened when a second employee entered the tank to attempt a rescue, inadvertently restarting the machinery. While the second employee managed to escape unharmed,Partida remained trapped.
Local firefighters worked for more than five hours to cut power to the machine and carefully extract Partida, who suffered multiple fractures to his ribs and limbs. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries six days later.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Partida’s wife and children, having already raised over $12,000 (approximately €10,000). Gowan Milling LLC has announced an internal examination, alongside a county-level investigation, to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident. The findings and any potential compensation to the family are still pending and expected to take several months.
