DENTON, Texas – The Denton County Sheriff’s Office is set to expand its authority to include functions similar to those of U.S. Immigration and Customs enforcement (ICE), perhaps leading to the detention of individuals suspected of being in the country illegally. This change comes after the County Commissioners approved the implementation of the 287(g) task force model, considered the most extensive version of this federal program.
