Mamdani’s First 100 Days: A Look at NYC’s New Mayor’s Progress

Mamdani’s campaign promise of affordable housing is taking shape in the Bronx.

On Monday at Jacobi Hospital, he announced the reactivation of “Just Home,” a supportive housing program for New Yorkers with complex medical needs.

The mayor says this program shows the city’s commitment to homeless New Yorkers and emphasizes the role that housing plays in their continuum of care.

At the Brooklyn Academy of Music on Monday, Mayor Zohran Mamdani drew parallels to his agenda of affordability to Dr. Martin Luther King’s fight for rights for the underserved and unheard.

“There is beauty in answering a question Dr. King posed to us many years ago, what good is the right to sit the lunch counter, if you can’t afford to buy a hamburger,” Mamdani said.

In a city where the mayor reminded the crowd Dr. King organized, preached and recovered after a failed assassination in 1958, the program was intentionally filled with artistry…part of the fabric of Dr. King’s entire being.

Mayor Mamdani will attend the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Then, the mayor will attend the King Day of Service: Public Policy Forum hosted by Reverend Al Sharpton at National Action Network.

It’s been just over two weeks since Zohran Mamdani took the oath of office and became New York City’s 112th mayor.

He’s grabbed national attention for his policy proposals and his outspoken stance on contentious issues like immigration.

In a sit-down interview with Eyewitness News anchor Bill Ritter, the mayor drew a line in the sand, maintaining that New York will remain a sanctuary city.
