Red Dead Redemption 2 DLC 2026: Why GTA 6 Players Aren’t Excited

You really can’t please everyone, and nowhere is that more true than with gamers waiting desperately for more news on Grand Theft Auto 6. Fans are so desperate for updates on the sequel to GTA 5, in fact, that they’re turning their noses up at a limited-time free download for Red Dead Redemption 2.

Those of you paying attention will know GTA 6 has had two public delays so far. It was originally moved from its 2025 release window to May 2026. It was then announced towards the end of last year that it would be releasing November 19, 2026. This is the current release date for the game, but in lieu of a third trailer, fans are taking to slam Rockstar over pretty much any announcement that isn’t about GTA 6.

Claim it while you can

Over on Rockstar Games’ social channels, they took a break from not posting about GTA 6 to let us know there’s a free download currently available for Red Dead Redemption 2‘s Online mode. For a limited time, players can log in to Red Dead Online and claim a brand-new outfit. There’s also a variety of other limited-time bonuses you can go ahead and claim through January.

Rockstar wrote:

“Red Dead Online content creator vsblicky crafted this ensemble for the well-traveled type who needs to feel as comfortable at the bottom of a cave as they do warming a seat at the poker table. Assemble the look for free from the Catalogue.”

Now, some bonus free content for a game that is often outright neglected sounds like a great win in my book. But the top replies are all about GTA 6, as if Rockstar is going to post trailer three just because somebody with 12k followers on X asked for it. I will say, I do have respect for the one random dude who replied to the post and asked for a Midnight Club 3 remaster. At least they’re being different.

Will GTA 6 Hit Its November Release Date?

We’ll have to wait and see

At this stage, we don’t know, but all the signs suggest November 19 is the final release date. It’s worth remembering Red Dead Redemption 2 was only publicly delayed twice, although reports suggest the road to get GTA 6 out hasn’t been easy for the staff at Rockstar.

For now, we have absolutely no control over the situation. All we can really do is not harass Rockstar Games on social media, stop asking about GTA 6, and maybe go and try out Red Dead Online for a little bit. Seems like a decent enough plan.
