Last Sunday, a 10-year-old boy, Nico Antic, was fatally attacked by a shark while swimming with friends at Nielsen Park in Sydney Harbour. He died on Saturday, January 24, 2026, after sustaining critical leg injuries.
“We are heartbroken to share that our son,nico,has passed away,” his parents,Lorena and Juan Antic,said in a statement.
“Nico was a happy, friendly and sporty young boy with the most kind and generous spirit. He was always full of life and that’s how we’ll remember him.”
The Antic family thanked first responders and the teams at Sydney Children’s Hospital for their care, as well as the community for their support.
