Stolen Motorcycle Seized in Uquía, Jujuy; Rider Arrested for DUI
Uquía, Jujuy Province, Argentina – February 17, 2026 – A motorcycle was seized and its rider arrested in Uquía, Jujuy Province, over the weekend during increased security checks related to Carnival celebrations. The vehicle was found to be stolen and the rider was operating the motorcycle under the influence of alcohol.
According to a report from the Jujuy Provincial Police, officers from the Uquía Road Safety detachment were stationed at the intersection of Avenida San Martín and Calle Formosa when they stopped a yellow Bajaj Rouser 200cc motorcycle lacking a licence plate.
A breathalyzer test administered to the rider revealed a blood alcohol content of 2.0 g/L, exceeding the legal limit under Argentina’s “Zero Tolerance” law. A subsequent vehicle check revealed the motorcycle had an active theft warrant issued by Fiscalia Nº 39 in Buenos Aires City,related to an aggravated theft case.
The motorcycle has been impounded at the local police station. The rider faces criminal charges related to the theft of the vehicle, in addition to penalties for driving under the influence.
The operation was carried out by personnel from Section Nº 15 as part of the broader carnival security measures implemented throughout Jujuy Province.
