Milan,Italy – Filipino Olympian Francis Ceccarelli faced a setback in his 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics campaign, failing to complete the slalom event on Monday (Manila time). This followed his 54th-place finish in the giant slalom competition earlier in the Games.
Ceccarelli’s run in the slalom ended with a crash, removing him from contention. While disappointed, the athlete displayed resilience following the event.
The slalom event requires navigating a course marked by closely spaced gates, demanding precision and speed. The giant slalom, in contrast, features wider turns and generally higher speeds.
Despite not finishing the slalom, Ceccarelli’s participation in both events marks a significant moment for Philippine winter sports. He previously achieved a notable 54th place in the giant slalom, showcasing his skill on the international stage.
Further updates on Team Philippines’ performance at the 2026 Winter Olympics will be provided as they become available.
