Brandy and Monica concluded the second night of the 2026 ESSENCE Festival of Culture with a joint performance at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on July 4, 2026. How Brandy and Monica Structured Their Finale Performance
Brandy performed “Top of the World” and “I Wanna Be Down,” the latter of which featured surprise guest appearances by MC Lyte and Yo-Yo. The singer also performed a tribute to Whitney Houston, covering “How Will I Know” and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me).”
Monica contributed a tribute to Mary J. Blige as part of her performance. The two artists also revisited two of their biggest ballads, with Brandy singing “Have You Ever?” and Monica performing “For You I Will.”
The show ended with a public display of mutual respect where the two singers placed crowns on each other’s heads. This gesture marked the conclusion of the Saturday night programming at the Caesars Superdome.

Patti LaBelle performed a 40-minute set backed by a live band, marking her return to the Superdome more than three decades after she appeared at the inaugural festival in 1995. Babyface also performed, utilizing a live band to showcase songs he wrote and produced for other R&B artists. His set included material associated with Boyz II Men, Bobby Brown, Tevin Campbell, After 7, Toni Braxton, and others.
During a performance of “A Song for Mama,” Babyface played guitar while the Superdome screens displayed images of Michelle Obama and Phylicia Rashad to honor motherhood.
