Tamsin Stephens, the artist behind the project TTSSFU, is shifting her creative focus back to dream-pop as she develops her upcoming material. Following the release of her project Blown last August, the Mancunian singer has confirmed that her next phase of songwriting is heavily influenced by synth-pop textures and a desire to reconnect with her early musical inspirations.
The transition follows a period of professional reflection for the artist, who noted that the pressures following the release of Blown and observing other performers contributed to a sense of self-doubt. By moving away from the guitar-centric sound of her previous work, Stephens aims to create music that feels both personal and exhilarating.
Returning to Roots and Synth Influences
Stephens has spent recent months refining her sound, moving toward a more electronic-forward approach. She described this process as a return to the foundations that originally drew her to music, specifically citing the influence of Robyn and Caroline Polachek. Beyond traditional pop influences, she credited the film I Saw The TV Glow as a significant creative catalyst for her current direction.

“I would say it’s a lot more synthy, and I’m trying to really connect what I do next with what I’m passionate about,” Stephens said. “I went a little more guitar-based on the last EP, so now I’m going back to dream-pop.”
Following the release of Blown, Stephens experimented with a full synth-pop album. While she described that record as an experiment, she confirmed that a track from those sessions will be integrated into her upcoming releases. “It was flawed in many ways, but I would say it inspired me to do what I’m going to do next,” she added.
Overcoming the Pressure of Touring
The path to new music was not without its hurdles. Stephens admitted that the period following her last release required significant mental recalibration. The experience of touring—specifically watching other bands perform—initially led her to question whether her own music held the same energy or impact.

“Seeing other bands and touring with other bands, which I’d never done myself, I was doubting my own music and if it was exciting enough,” she explained. Ultimately, she chose to reject the pressure to conform to a specific “rock ‘n’ roll” aesthetic, opting instead to trust her initial instincts. “I’ve gone back to thinking it is—don’t need to be too rock ‘n’ roll,” she stated.
Her live performances remain a key component of her career growth. During her recent appearance at the Mad Cool Festival, her set was noted for its intensity, characterized by raw vocal deliveries and high-energy stage presence. This momentum is set to continue as she prepares for an upcoming tour alongside Blondshell, a development she has described as a welcome and exciting next step.
What Comes Next for TTSSFU
As the artist moves forward, the focus remains on the synthesis of her experimental synth-pop sessions and her established dream-pop identity. Fans can look for these new influences in her upcoming record, which will feature material salvaged and adapted from her recent creative experiments.

Stephens is currently preparing for the upcoming run of dates with Blondshell. Further details regarding release dates for her next full-length project have not yet been formally announced by her representatives. Updates on her upcoming tour and music releases are typically shared through her official social media channels.
