Canadian country-pop artist Shania Twain has expressed high admiration for Taylor Swift, specifically praising her musicianship and songwriting abilities.
The comments come as Twain promotes her seventh studio album, Little Miss Twain, released on July 24 via Republic Nashville. The project serves as a follow-up to her 2023 album Queen of Me, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200.

“I admire her musicianship and her commitment to telling her stories,” Twain told Jimmy Fallon. She added, “I love her. I love everything about her.”
Twain spent that period opening for Harry Styles during his 12-show residency at Wembley Stadium in London. This followed a previous collaboration where Twain made a surprise guest appearance during Styles’ set at Coachella 2022.
The Origins of ‘Little Miss Twain’
The new album, Little Miss Twain, draws from the singer’s childhood experiences as a performer. Twain revealed on The Tonight Show that she began performing at age eight in “smoky small bars” where the crowds consisted mostly of intoxicated men. She noted that she was definitely the only child performing in those venues.
The album title is derived from the introduction she received during those early years: “Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome to the stage, Little Miss Twain.” The title track focuses on her mother, who served as her manager, agent, and driver during the start of her career. Twain’s parents died in a car accident when she was 22 and did not live to see her become the best-selling female country artist of them all.
During her interview, Twain also discussed the song “Dirty Rosie,” which refers to a faded old red work truck she rode in as a child. She recounted learning to drive at age 10 out of necessity because her family lived and worked in the woods and could not afford new vehicles.
Biopic and Career Milestones
Twain confirmed that a musical and a biopic about her life are currently in development. “It’s all real, it’s all happening,” she stated, noting that these projects have been in the works for some time.
The upcoming projects are expected to cover a career marked by significant commercial success and personal hardship. Twain’s professional achievements include a run of three straight albums that were certified diamond by the RIAA, starting with 1995’s The Woman In Me, and the 100 million-plus album sales. She has also earned five Grammy Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Twain’s personal history includes a public battle with Lyme disease and multiple surgeries, including “very intensive” open-throat operations. She told Fallon that these medical procedures took a toll on both her mental health and her vocals.
