Firebird Launches CIS Region’s Largest AI Factory in Armenia with NVIDIA and Dell

The global buildout of artificial intelligence infrastructure reached a significant milestone as Firebird, an emerging AI cloud, launched the CIS region’s largest AI factory in Armenia. The new facility establishes a major regional computing hub powered by NVIDIA accelerated computing and Dell Technologies high-performance AI infrastructure, designed to provide the foundational capacity required to train, fine-tune, and deploy complex AI models at scale.

Nikol Pashinyan, prime minister of the Republic of Armenia; Zhaslan Madiyev, deputy prime minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan; and David Allen, U.S. chargé d’affaires, a.i. in Armenia, attended the official opening ceremony for the facility in Hrazdan. Delivered in just over six months, the project demonstrates rapid deployment capabilities in turning ambitious infrastructure plans into operational computing capacity.

While global cloud services are widely accessible, nations increasingly require domestic infrastructure to develop and run artificial intelligence tailored to local languages, distinct industries, and national priorities. Firebird’s new facility directly addresses this need, supplying startups, enterprises, universities, and public institutions in Armenia with the heavy compute power necessary to build and scale models locally.

Scaling Up: 70,000 GPUs and a Gigawatt Roadmap

To support heavy computational workloads, Firebird plans to deploy more than 70,000 NVIDIA Rubin and Blackwell GPUs alongside 300 megawatts of AI infrastructure capacity in Armenia by the end of 2027. This rapid buildout is intended to accelerate the country’s emergence as a center for advanced computing, research, and innovation.

The facility’s ambitions extend far beyond its initial site in Hrazdan. Backed by NVIDIA’s support, Firebird is pursuing an expansive roughly 2-gigawatt infrastructure roadmap spanning Armenia, Kazakhstan, and additional markets. Firebird also announced that NVIDIA intends to invest in the company, following an earlier investment by CoreWeave earlier this year. These financial commitments aim to help Firebird scale its global operations and establish advanced compute clusters across frontier markets.

Early enterprise demand for the cluster is already materializing. AI-native companies such as Perplexity are working with Firebird to secure high-performance infrastructure to power answer engines and agent platforms.

Energy Efficiency and Co-Designed Engineering

Managing the immense power and thermal loads of tens of thousands of advanced processors requires specialized engineering. Built on the NVIDIA DSX platform, the Armenia facility integrates accelerated computing, networking, power distribution, and thermal management into a single co-designed system.

The DSX platform allows data centers to run up to 40% more GPUs within the same physical footprint, maximizing token output per dollar and extracting higher efficiency from every megawatt of capacity. Power infrastructure for the site is supplied by Schneider Electric, which rapidly delivered and installed medium- and low-voltage switchgear, three-phase uninterruptible power supply systems, and rack enclosures to keep pace with the aggressive deployment timeline.

Thermal management is equally critical to maintaining sustained performance. Vertiv provided a comprehensive cooling architecture combining chilled-water technology, advanced controls, and TrimCooler technology for efficient heat rejection. The facility utilizes Vertiv’s iCOM CWM Chilled Water Manager to centrally coordinate cooling resources, dynamically responding to shifting computational demands as intensive AI workloads fluctuate.

Connecting Local Innovation to the Global Economy

Operating on NVIDIA’s total AI factory platform—incorporating reference architecture, accelerated computing, networking, and software—and deployed across Dell PowerEdge servers, the facility bridges local engineering talent with the broader international AI market. By providing domestic access to hardware, the infrastructure allows Armenian developers and researchers to transform raw energy into intelligence without relying entirely on foreign cloud providers.
