Philadelphia police have identified and charged a 35-year-old man in connection with a late-night double shooting in North Philadelphia that left a 61-year-old woman dead and her husband injured. According to the Philadelphia Police Department, Shariff Perry faces charges of murder and related offenses following the August 9 incident on the 2800 block of North 24th Street.
The shooting unfolded shortly before midnight, at approximately 11:49 p.m., while victims Michelle Wilson and her 67-year-old husband sat on their front porch. Investigators said Wilson sustained gunshot wounds to the neck and back and was transported to Temple University Hospital, where medical staff pronounced her dead. Her husband suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including an injury to the buttocks, and was listed in stable condition with expectations of survival.
Detectives launched an intensive investigation following the late-night violence, utilizing neighborhood surveillance footage to track the suspect’s movements. Footage obtained by reporters showed a male wearing a baseball cap and a medical mask approaching the area, appearing to retrieve a handgun from a bag before concealing it inside his coat along the sidewalk. Law enforcement officials initially examined whether the couple was the intended target or if they were struck by gunfire meant for someone else.
The Crime Scene Unit combed the area, recovering evidence markers from the street, sidewalk, and porch. As the search for the suspect progressed, authorities formally identified Perry as the individual responsible for the attack and secured warrants for his arrest.
