Elon Musk Predicts SpaceX AI Revenue to Surpass Starlink and Space Business Next Month

Elon Musk projects that SpaceX’s artificial intelligence business revenue will soon surpass all of the aerospace company’s legacy operations combined, potentially as early as next month. Speaking during an internal all-hands meeting for employees, the chief executive officer outlined an aggressive growth trajectory for the firm’s AI initiatives, which currently operate alongside its traditional space and broadband ventures.

According to Business Insider reporting, Musk told staff members that artificial intelligence represents a critical pillar for the future of SpaceX. The billionaire entrepreneur stated that AI revenue is positioned to surpass the combined earnings of all other company divisions imminently, projecting a dramatic acceleration by the final quarter of the year.

The forecast highlights a swift structural evolution within SpaceX, which currently organizes its core commercial operations around three primary pillars: telecommunications, space transport, and artificial intelligence. The projection arrives as the company experiences rapid financial expansion across its existing segments.

During the second quarter, SpaceX posted total revenue of 78억달러, marking a 92% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. The telecommunications division—anchored heavily by the Starlink satellite internet network—generated 42억9000만달러, accounting for more than half of the total corporate intake. Meanwhile, the artificial intelligence division pulled in 25억6000만달러, demonstrating rapid commercial scaling.

The telecommunications segment continues to serve as a primary cash generator for SpaceX, driven by steady subscriber growth for Starlink alongside expanding enterprise and government accounts. Despite this reliance on traditional broadband streams, Musk’s forecasts suggest that the commercial velocity of the company’s AI efforts will outpace its established connectivity business in the near term.

Internal Data Integration for Grok Development

To accelerate its artificial intelligence capabilities, Musk announced plans to feed extensive internal SpaceX data into the training pipeline for Grok, the conversational AI model. He told employees that the system will ingest proprietary company information, framing the workforce as foundational contributors to the technology.

Describing employees metaphorically as the “parents” of the technology, Musk noted that the AI model will effectively absorb human perspectives, ideas, and convictions from the staff. However, the company has not yet detailed specific protocols regarding which internal datasets will be harvested, nor has it clarified how employee personal records or day-to-day workflow telemetry will be processed or protected.

Projected Shifts in Global Data Traffic

Beyond internal operations, Musk predicted that the rise of artificial intelligence will fundamentally alter global data consumption patterns. He estimated that within the next five years, machine-generated internet traffic could outpace human-generated traffic by a factor of 1,000.

To support this anticipated surge in digital demand, SpaceX plans to significantly scale its internal AI computing capacity. Over the long term, the company intends to develop space-based artificial intelligence infrastructure designed to handle heavier computational loads off-planet.
