That quiet domestic routine is interrupted when three familiar faces from his past—Rebecca, played by Hannah Waddingham; Leslie, played by Jeremy Swift; and Keeley, played by Juno Temple—arrive outside his Kansas City home. According to Deadline, Rebecca approaches Ted with an unexpected job offer: she wants him to coach a new women’s soccer team across the Atlantic.
While Ted initially declines the offer and watches Henry’s local soccer match, memories of his time at Richmond eventually prompt a change of heart. After texting his ex Michelle, played by Andrea Anders, both she and Henry agree to join him for a new chapter in England, according to Deadline.

According to Deadline, the roster includes Boots, played by Jude Mack; cheeky twin sisters Niamh and Siobhan, played by Aisling Sharkey and Rex Hayes respectively; Margy, played by Mercedes Assad; and her girlfriend Mady, played by Annelise Heywood. Additional characters are slated to appear in subsequent episodes, while Assistant Coach Alice Chilton, portrayed by Tanya Reynolds, handles early training duties before Ted’s arrival in the U.K.
The return comes as Sudeikis reflects on the personal significance of the character. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter noted by AARP, Sudeikis, 50, explained his motivation for revisiting the role, stating, “I know I needed this. I needed it as much as other people do.” Sudeikis has earned four Emmy Awards for his work on the series, which initially concluded its third-season run in 2023.

To help reintroduce the series ahead of its broadcast, Sudeikis and co-star Brendan Hunt appeared in character as Ted Lasso and Coach Beard during the FIFA World Cup Final halftime show, according to AARP. During the appearance, Ted delivered an impromptu backstage pep talk to musician Justin Bieber, telling him, “All right, young man, it’s your big shot. Now listen to me. Go out there, don’t be nervous. Nobody’s watching. Make us proud.”
