Amazon Props Up Misleading, Junky Laptops No One Should Buy

The ⁣Struggle to Find Good Laptop ⁢Deals ⁤Online:⁢ Amazon⁤ and Walmart’s Search Results

Finding a good laptop deal online can be surprisingly difficult, with search results on‌ major retailers like Amazon‍ and Walmart‍ frequently enough dominated by sponsored listings and low-quality options. A recent assessment highlights the challenges consumers face when trying to⁢ navigate these platforms.

The ‍reviewer identified the Dell 15 Laptop as a ‌potentially solid‍ budget option, currently priced around $530. ⁢This 2024 model (not 2025 as originally stated) offers a 120Hz refresh rate display, 16GB ‌of RAM, and 512GB of storage. However, the ‌reviewer⁤ notes that even this promising option⁣ is surrounded ⁣by numerous sponsored results of⁣ varying quality on Amazon.

Walmart’s search results are even more problematic.⁣ The platform frequently promotes ultra-cheap,⁣ frequently‌ enough outdated HP ‍laptops priced ‍under ‌$300, alongside a proliferation of lesser-known brands like⁣ “RNRUO” and “Coolby.” ⁤The analysis found that‌ 24 out of‌ the first 40 laptops ‍displayed⁢ on Walmart’s first search⁤ results page⁤ were from these unfamiliar brands, with ‌the majority of the ⁢remaining listings ‍being HP models.

This issue isn’t⁢ a‍ lack of ‌good deals ⁢entirely. Both Amazon and walmart do offer discounts on highly-rated⁤ laptops, but ⁢these are often difficult to find without specific searches or the‍ use ‍of filters. The ⁢dominance of sponsored listings ⁣and ‌low-quality products obscures these better options, making it⁤ harder for consumers ⁣to make ⁢informed purchasing decisions.
