Console gamers received a welcome surprise last month when Larian Studios launched an enhanced version of Divinity: Original sin 2 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the newly released Nintendo switch 2. However, despite the game’s availability on Nintendo platforms since 2019, fans have been left wondering why Larian’s critically acclaimed Baldur’s Gate 3 hasn’t followed suit. the question of a Baldur’s Gate 3 port to Nintendo Switch has been a hot topic, and the answer, it truly seems, lies outside of Larian’s control.
During a recent Reddit “Ask Me Anything” session featuring members of the Larian team,CEO Swen Vincke directly addressed the possibility of a Baldur’s Gate 3 release on the Nintendo Switch 2. His response, unfortunately, wasn’t what hopeful players wanted to hear: We would have loved to but it wasn’t our decision to make.

Larian studios has officially concluded active development on Baldur’s Gate 3, focusing now on providing ongoing support through minor bug fixes. With the studio shifting its focus towards a new Divinity project – teased at The Game Awards 2025 - the future of Baldur’s Gate 3 now rests with Wizards of the Coast.
