boosting Coffee Productivity in Huila: A New Project
A collaborative project between the National Federation of Coffee Growers and the government of Huila, titled “Enhancement of Agronomic Conditions of soils to Increase Coffee Productivity in the Department of Huila,” has been structured to address soil acidity and implement optimized fertilization schemes. This initiative aims to improve the nutrition of coffee plants and increase yields per hectare.
Building on Previous Research
The project builds upon years of research conducted by Cenicafé (the National Coffee Research Center) in partnership with the Huila governorate and other stakeholders in the Huila coffee industry. This prior work involved a rigorous methodology for identifying and mapping the most acidic soils in the department, providing a foundation for targeted intervention.
