The organization welcomes two distinguished individuals to its board: Frank Robinson, retired Vice President and Public Health Officer at Baystate Health, and Nikki Gleason, Vice President and Branch Manager at Florence Bank in West Springfield.These additions represent a powerful blend of healthcare leadership and financial expertise, crucial for addressing the multifaceted challenges facing Western Massachusetts communities.
Dr. Robinson’s career has been dedicated to advancing health equity and community well-being. His early work with the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health and the Northeast Ohio developmental Centre laid the foundation for a career focused on preventative, “upstream” approaches to public health. He further solidified this commitment as the founding Executive Director of Partners for a Healthier Community and as director of Community Health Planning at Baystate Health. His leadership extends beyond healthcare; Dr.Robinson was instrumental in establishing the Baystate Academy Charter Public school and the Baystate Springfield Educational partnership, initiatives designed to improve educational attainment and prepare Springfield students for success. notably, in 2023, he secured a substantial $5.1 million grant from the Massachusetts Broadband Institute, directly addressing the critical need for digital inclusion and expanded internet access – a vital component of modern community development.This grant highlights the growing recognition of broadband access as a social determinant of health and economic possibility.

Moyah Smith, owner of B-Side entertainment & Memories Matter, has been elected as board chair, succeeding John Robinson, who served as chair for the past five years and will remain a board member after over two decades of dedicated volunteer service.
