Eric Adams ‌Fires Back at Andy Cohen’s New Year’s Eve Criticism

New York City Mayor Eric⁤ Adams delivered a sharp‍ rebuke to television personality Andy Cohen following Cohen’s critical ⁣remarks during CNN’s New Year’s⁢ Eve broadcast. Cohen unleashed a tirade against Adams while live on air from Times Square, prompting a response from the mayor.

Adams addressed Cohen’s comments, referencing perceived past legal issues. “I just want to say, he’s got his pardons, he’s pardoned,” Adams stated. “Great, you got your pardons,go off into the sunset. ⁣We’ll fiddle with what⁤ we have, with what you left us‍ with.”

Cohen’s comments ‌appeared to allude to the dismissal ‌of federal corruption charges against Adams earlier in ‌April. It’s vital to note this is distinct from a presidential⁤ pardon. ⁢

The exchange visibly unsettled Cohen’s‍ co-hosts, Anderson Cooper and BJ Novak, who attempted to redirect the conversation. Novak even joked that ⁤Cohen “can’t help‍ himself.”

Despite the tension, Cohen ⁣did offer a backhanded compliment‌ regarding‍ Adams’ new Office of Rodent‌ Mitigation. He ⁣sarcastically acknowledged the potential impact on the city’s notorious rat population.

“I will say this,” ⁣Cohen remarked. “I think he may have dented the rat population. I think he got rid of some of the rats, but isn’t that a‌ metaphor of sorts? Let’s‌ call‌ it as it is, honestly. it is 2026 and there are less rats.”

This isn’t the first time Cohen has publicly⁢ criticized a ‌departing new⁢ York City mayor. ⁢In 2022, he similarly ⁢lambasted Bill de blasio after the conclusion of his term.

Cohen famously told de ‌Blasio to “do his victory lap dance after four years as the crappiest term of the mayor⁣ of New York.” He added that both Democrats and Republicans agreed de Blasio had been a poor mayor, ⁤wishing him “sayonara sucker!”

This latest exchange ⁢highlights the ofen-contentious relationship ⁢between public figures‍ and media personalities, notably in a city as vibrant and scrutinized as New York. It also underscores the ongoing debate‍ surrounding Adams’ governance and its efforts ‌to address the city’s challenges.
