Georgia Man Convicted in Brutal Murder of “Baby Momma” Days Before MotherS Day
A Chatham County jury has found Brandon Bolden guilty of malice murder in the horrific killing of Deanna Thompson, the mother of his young child. The crime occurred just three days before what would have been Thompson’s frist Mother’s Day, a detail highlighted by District Attorney Shalena Cook Jones as especially devastating. This case underscores the tragic reality of domestic violence and the lasting impact on families.
The Crime and Initial Response
Around an hour after the murder, Chatham county dispatch received a 911 call from an anonymous source. The caller stated Bolden had confessed to killing Thompson, described as his “baby momma.” This prompted a statewide BOLO (Be On the Lookout) alert, and georgia State Patrol officers quickly located Bolden over 100 miles away on I-16.
A high-speed chase ensued, spanning two counties, before bolden was finally taken into custody. During the investigation, detectives noted Bolden repeatedly ”lied and tried to manipulate” the process. Disturbingly, he displayed “no concern for the well-being of his son or Deanna.”
The Details of a Senseless Act
According to the District Attorney’s office, the evidence revealed a chilling sequence of events. Bolden allegedly emptied a 9mm revolver into Thompson, then reloaded the weapon and continued to shoot her even after she was no longer alive. This horrific act unfolded in front of their 5-month-old child, a detail that amplifies the tragedy.
Beyond malice murder, Bolden was also convicted of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime. These convictions reflect the severity and premeditation of his actions.
Seeking Justice and Remembering Deanna
The District Attorney’s office is now seeking a sentence of life without the possibility of parole for Bolden. Sentencing is scheduled for January 9th. This request reflects the gravity of the crime and the need to protect the community.
Deanna Thompson is remembered as a vibrant and loving individual. Her obituary described her as possessing a “zest for life,a huge personality,a heart of gold and a mind of her very own.” She was someone who consistently sought the good in others and brought joy to those around her.
* Her laugh was described as “big and luminous.”
