Free Software Foundation Receives Meaningful Donations, Bolsters Digital Freedom Efforts
The Free Software Foundation (FSF) recently announced a significant influx of private donations, a testament too the growing recognition of software freedom as a critical issue in today’s digital landscape.This support arrives at a crucial time, benefiting both the FSF and the wider movement for digital rights.
“Remarkable acts of generosity are a true gift in a challenging time for manny,” stated Zoë Kooyman,FSF Executive Director. “It proves that software freedom is recognized more and more as a principal issue today, at the core of several other social movements people care about like privacy, ownership, and the right to repair.”
Fundraising Success & Future Focus
Currently, the FSF’s annual winter fundraising drive is three-quarters of the way toward its $400,000 USD goal. thanks to these generous contributions, the organization is now shifting its focus to a member drive.

Kooyman emphasized the importance of broad support: “We are proudly supported by a large variety of contributors who care about digital rights. All donations matter, whether $5 or $500,000.” She further noted the importance of consistent, smaller donations in maintaining the FSF’s independence, and expressed gratitude for the donors’ desire to remain anonymous.

These funds will directly strengthen the FSF’s core capabilities. Specifically, the donation will support:
