AS Roma’s journey in the 2026 Coppa Italia concluded swiftly, as they suffered a 3-2 defeat against Torino in the Round of 16. This result brings an end to their campaign in this prestigious domestic competition, halting their progress at an early stage.
The match, held at the Olimpico on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, marked Roma’s first appearance in the Coppa Italia this season. Torino, though, had already overcome Modena and Pisa in previous rounds, demonstrating their early form in the tournament.
Torino Takes the Early Lead in Coppa Italia Clash
Despite playing on their home turf, Roma found themselves struggling to gain control of the match, consistently trailing behind their opponents. Che Adams opened the scoring for Torino in the 35th minute, putting the visitors ahead.
Roma managed to level the score early in the second half when Mario Hermoso found the back of the net. The defender skillfully maneuvered through the opposition before unleashing a precise shot that beat the goalkeeper.
Though, the tie was short-lived, as Adams restored Torino’s advantage in the 52nd minute, capitalizing on a pass from Nikola Vlasic.

Unfortunately for the home side, a corner kick in the 90th minute proved to be their undoing. Ermirkhan Ilhan seized the chance, converting a loose ball following a fumbled save by Mile Svilar from close range.
Unable to overcome the deficit, Roma were ultimately defeated and eliminated from the competition. Torino advances to the quarter-finals, where they will face Inter Milan.
