The digital assistant, powered by google Cloud and leveraging commercially available large language models (LLMs), will possess an unprecedented level of vehicle-specific awareness. It will be able to access detailed information about your vehicle, offering personalized support and insights. Imagine asking your car how many bags of mulch it can realistically carry, or receiving real-time updates on your engine oil condition – these are the capabilities Ford is bringing to the forefront.
For instance, if you’re at a home advancement store, you can simply take a picture of the items you’ve purchased, upload it to the Ford app, and the AI will calculate the maximum load your vehicle can accommodate. “Customers need an intelligence that understands where you are, what you’re doing, and what your vehicle can do,” Ford representatives explained. “Then, the assistant makes decisions simpler.”

This new AI assistant will initially roll out to 8 million Ford and Lincoln customers through their respective mobile applications. Furthermore, Tesla has integrated elon Musk’s Grok chatbot into its vehicles, enabling drivers to engage in conversations, issue voice commands, and access contextual information about their surroundings.
