Mazarine Pingeot, the daughter of François Mitterrand (1916-1996) and Anne Pingeot, who was long kept private, re-examines her father’s life through this very lens.
She draws upon personal archives, including photographs taken around the family home in Jarnac (Charente), alongside materials from the INA (a co-producer), and readings of Mitterrand’s writings, voiced by actor Patrick mille.
This intimate reflection, viewed through the eyes of childhood, focuses on the rare and significant moments shared with her father.
The deeply personal documentary,directed by Catherine Aventurier,is being released exactly thirty years after the death of the man who led France from May 1981 to May 1995.

Following his election on may 10, 1981, François Mitterrand famously stated, “Remember that I am a writer before I am a politician,”
to photographer Gisèle Freund, who was commissioned to create his official portrait.
This portrait, notably, was the first to be taken in front of a bookshelf brimming with volumes, highlighting his passion for literature.
