Meta Discontinues Horizon Workrooms and B2B VR Program, Shifts Focus to Education
Meta is streamlining its virtual reality (VR) efforts by discontinuing Horizon Workrooms, its VR office submission, and Meta Horizon Managed Solutions, its business-to-business (B2B) VR program. This decision reflects a strategic shift away from enterprise solutions and towards educational applications for its Meta quest headsets.
Horizon Workrooms sunsetted
Horizon Workrooms, launched during the pandemic as a virtual workspace for remote collaboration, will cease operations on February 16, 2026. The application allowed users to interact as avatars in virtual meeting spaces, access their desktops, and collaborate on whiteboards using Meta Quest 2 headsets. Advancement slowed considerably after an update in 2024 that streamlined the app and removed features. The Verge first reported the news.
