Saudi Aramco Launches New ’98 Octane’ Gasoline
Saudi Aramco has announced the launch of its new ’98 Octane’ gasoline product, available starting in January. this introduction aims to provide consumers wiht a wider range of fuel choices and expand the company’s product portfolio without impacting the existing gasoline supply in the market.
The company clarified that this higher-octane fuel is specifically designed for high-performance vehicles, such as sports cars and engines requiring a higher octane rating. These vehicles currently represent less than 0.5% of the total vehicle population in the Kingdom. Aramco emphasized that using 98 Octane gasoline in standard or economy vehicles will not provide any additional benefits and will not affect the quality of the currently available 91 and 95 Octane fuels.
The initial distribution phase will focus on major cities – Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam – as well as the highways connecting them, as these areas have the highest concentration of high-performance vehicles. Further expansion of distribution will be considered based on actual product demand.
Pricing for 98 Octane gasoline will be available on the Saudi Aramco website through its retail fuel sales page, with prices subject to periodic review in accordance with established energy and water price adjustment governance mechanisms.
