Following the announcement of a special finance law on December 23rd, tens of thousands of students registered for the new teacher recruitment competitions in 2026 at the bachelor’s level (+3 years) find themselves in a state of uncertainty. Without an agreement on the 2026 finance bill before December 31st, the adoption of the special law will allow for the continuation of 2025 funding to maintain existing programs, but will not finance the new reforms, which are therefore frozen. This especially impacts the teacher training reform, which planned to move the competition exams to the bachelor’s level rather of the current master’s level (+5 years).
Government Efforts Underway
The year 2026 was intended to be a transitional period between the two systems, with the institution of a double session: one open to those with a bachelor’s degree and the other to those with a master’s degree. While the conventional competitions for master’s degree holders will
