Brooklyn Beckham‘s ex Afton McKeith has spoken out in support of the star

A ex-girlfriend of Brooklyn Beckham has spoken out after the chef blasted parents David and Victoria in a devastating takedown. Brooklyn made a number of allegations, accusing his family of ruining and manipulating his life for years as he vowed to never speak to them again.

In his Instagram outburst Brooklyn called out his mum for ‘deliberately’ trying to come between himself and now wife Nicola Peltz, the Mirror Online reports.

He fumed: “My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one. My mum has repeatedly invited women from my past into our lives in ways that were clearly intended to make us both uncomfortable.”

Brooklyn’s former girlfriend Afton McKeith has now come forward to give her say on his claims. The 25-year-old actress revealed that Brooklyn, 26, struggled with life as a ‘nepo baby’ and struggled to stand apart from the Beckham family empire.

While there has been speculation that Brooklyn’s claims were orchestrated by Nicola and her PR team, Afton, who dated Brooklyn in 2017, said she believes the statement were an honest and heartfelt cry for help. The daughter of TV personality Gillian McKeith said: “A lot has gone on over the years. This has not just happened suddenly. Brooklyn was telling the truth in his post. It was hard for him growing up.”

Afton told The Sun: “There are two sides to every story, but I know growing up in the spotlight was challenging for him.” She explained that growing up, Brooklyn always suffered with anxiety and believed that the world was waiting for him to fail. Afton said Brooklyn struggled to live life in the shadow of his globally famous and successful parents.

Afton said Brooklyn even hated having his photo taken and said David and Victoria “could have protected him more” from critics as he navigated his teenage years in the limelight.

Afton also claimed that Brooklyn often felt “isolated” as his parents were away quite a lot and would spend quite some time with his nannies and siblings. She has also dismissed rumours that Nicola had written the statement on Brooklyn’s behalf, insisting that he is intelligent enough to have composed the six page Instagram post himself.

This week Brooklyn cut ties with his parents in spectacular fashion as he fumed: “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”

His claims were the first time one of the Beckham clan has spoken directly and at length about the feud. Speaking on his Instagram page, Brooklyn raged: “For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.

“Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.”

One of the claims made in the statement was that Victoria had danced inappropriately with him during his wedding back in 2022, leaving Nicola running out of the room in tears.

He claimed: “My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song. In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead. “

Brooklyn explained: “She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life. “

“We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment,” he said.
