Is Trump weaponizing the Justice System?
Currently, Powell hasn’t faced formal charges. Until the indictment is revealed, the true weight of this investigation remains unclear.Though, it’s becoming increasingly apparent that the Justice Department under Trump is being used, without shame, as a tool against political adversaries. Trump has even publicly demanded such investigations into his opponents. This action against Powell appears too be a politically motivated prosecution, an unprecedented attempt to pressure the Federal Reserve, to which Powell asserts he will not yield.
The situation unfolds as District Attorney Jeanine Pirro, a staunch ally of Trump, is now targeting Powell. I’ve found that this pattern of behavior – leveraging the justice system for political gain – erodes public trust in institutions and sets a dangerous precedent.
This isn’t an isolated incident. Recent data from the Brennan center for Justice (December 2023) indicates a rise in politically charged investigations, raising concerns about the impartiality of the legal system. The question is, are we witnessing a systemic effort to intimidate and silence dissent?
