Streamlined Import Clearance: UgandaS New E-Portal Promises Efficiency and Openness
Uganda is substantially upgrading its import process with the launch of a revamped electronic portal designed to expedite clearance and boost trade. This new system, spearheaded by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), aims to eliminate bottlenecks and foster a more transparent environment for importers.
Faster Clearance & Unconditional release
According to officials, any consignment arriving with a valid Certificate of conformity (CoC) and Certificate of Road Worthiness (CRW) will now be released without delay.This is a direct result of the e-portal’s automation capabilities, ensuring a smoother flow of goods into the country.

Streamlined Exemption Requests: Managing Pre-Verification of Conformity (PVoC) exemption requests is now easier than ever, thanks to a mobile request for submissions and transparent seizure handling.
Efficient Sample Management: Online submission and monitoring of import samples for laboratory testing will dramatically improve efficiency.
Improved Turnaround Time (TAT): Both government agencies and importers will benefit from easier tracking of TAT, minimizing delays and reducing the overall cost of doing business.
