A recent military action initiated by the United States on January 3rd in Venezuela has resulted in significant casualties and the apprehension of key Venezuelan figures, including Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia flores. As reported on January 7th, 2026, Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello stated the operation led to approximately 100 fatalities and a comparable number of injuries.
“As of now, and I emphasize as of now, we have recorded 100 deaths and a similar number of wounded,” Cabello declared during his weekly program, “Con el mazo dando.” “The attack against our nation is truly devastating.”
Cabello emphasized that this terrible event
tragically claimed the lives of individuals uninvolved in any conflict, specifically mentioning civilians, including women at home, who were sadly struck by the impact of powerful bombs deployed against Venezuela.
In response, the Interior Minister dedicated his program to the noble and valiant
peopel of Venezuela, honoring those he described as martyrs and fallen heroes
of the U.S.-led military operation.
The Aftermath of Military Actions
Cabello detailed the losses suffered by Venezuelan forces, Cuban military personnel stationed in Venezuela, law enforcement officials, and civilians caught in the crossfire. He also extended his condolences to President Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
on Tuesday, the Bolivarian National Armed forces (FANB) held a funeral service to commemorate 24 soldiers who perished during the U.S. attacks targeting various locations in Caracas and neighboring states.
Prior to this, Attorney General Tarek william Saab announced the assignment of three public prosecutors to investigate what he characterized as dozens
of deaths, encompassing both civilian and military personnel, with ongoing efforts to determine the full extent of the casualties.
The Cuban government reported on Sunday that 32 of its military personnel stationed in Venezuela died during combative actions
stemming from the operation authorized by the Trump Governance, which also inflicted substantial damage to official buildings and nearby residences.
