Game Over for Xbox?
I’ve been a loyal Xbox subscriber – through gold, and now Ultimate – for nearly 20 years.I’ve consistently found value in the service and happily recommended Game Pass to friends. though, this recent 50%+ price increase is frankly, unacceptable. Read more about the price increase here.
How can Microsoft justify such a dramatic hike? Where else can consumers expect a near-identical service to double in price? The timing is particularly galling, coinciding wiht reports indicating Xbox will capture only 13% of UK console sales this year see report here. After almost two decades,I’m cancelling my subscription. I doubt a multi-billion dollar company will even notice.

Stepping Away From the Ecosystem
My Game Pass ultimate subscription is officially cancelled. I was already stretching to justify the £14.99 monthly fee, but this price increase is a bridge too far. The service lacks the compelling,long-term engagement needed to warrant the cost, and the sheer volume of low-quality “shovelware” is disheartening.
Microsoft seems determined to alienate potential customers rather than cultivate a thriving ecosystem. Someone should turn out the lights on their way out!
